Data Storage has become an increasingly important issue for business people and IT professionals. As corporations and government entities store records in their databases regarding customers, products, competitors, and other records, storage space becomes expensive. These expenses can be potentially prohibitive for small businesses who must employ people to manage the data, purchase storage equipment and software, and ensure that the data is properly protected from disaster or storage device failure. A solution to this problem comes in the form of an emerging technology called Fibre Channel. This paper will cover the topics of Fibre Channel and its use in Storage Area Networks (SAN).
